Test Preparation Materials

A guide to the test preparation materials available in the OHS Library, Frederick County Public Libraries, and online.

What is the ACT/SAT?

The American College Test (ACT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) are nationally administered tests that help colleges evaluate candidates. Starting in March 2024 the SAT will be digital, while the ACT is a paper test in most places.

Colleges now accept your ACT or SAT scores interchangeably. This means that you have the opportunity to decide on which test you'll perform better. And in many cases, students prepare for and take both exams.

Visit the link below to see if the SAT or ACT is better for you.

SAT Study Guides (Print) - Library Resources

All materials are located in the OHS Library's Test Preparation collection. Please ask library staff for the exact location.

The list, below, is not an exhaustive list. To find other test preparation materials at the OHS Library, a good strategy is to search for the name of the test you are interested in along with a term like "study guides" or "examinations" in the OHS library catalog. For example, a keyword search for "SAT" will find many useful materials.

Additional SAT titles from Frederick County Public Libraries:  to check out books from any Frederick County Public Library (FCPL) branch, please use your FCPL Student Success Card  (or just use 119829 along with your eight-digit student ID number as the username and “student” as the password). Please see OHS Library staff if you needed assistance with using this "card."
