As teachers, we are responsible for using and sharing information in a way that meets ethical guidelines. This includes following copyright law, using the SIFT method to evaluate the sources, and checking the publishing date. It also includes citing the information we share with students and fellow teachers. Not only is this part of our professional responsibility, but it is also essential to model this behavior for our students. Requiring students to also follow ethical guidelines sets them up for future success. FCPS provides various tools and professional development on these topics. Please be sure to visit the Copyright tab on this libguide. Your school's media specialist is also available to offer help and guidance if you have any questions.
