National Hispanic Heritage Month - Smithsonian
From the Website:
Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, honors the rich history, culture, and lasting contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States.
According to the National Museum of the American Latino through the Smithsonian, this month offers an opportunity to recognize the profound impact Latinas and Latinos have had for generations, from the Revolutionary War to the present day. Their presence in America predates Spanish colonization, and through historical events such as the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the Treaty of Paris, Hispanic Americans are an essential part of the nation’s story.
Today, over 60 million Latinos make up 18.9% of the U.S. population. They continue to shape and strengthen the country as leaders, innovators, artists, and public servants, reflecting a vibrant and enduring legacy that extends well beyond this month of celebration.
